So what made you like Elvis so much?
For me my mom has always been a fan and I can always remember sitting in the house on sunday afternoons with the record player and the old vinyl 7 inches LOL!! She always used to play Kentucky Rain. But the song that got me well into Elvis was Don't be Cruel. No other artist in my eyes can top him. Like my son said one time Elvis is cool and he wants to go to Elvis World!!! (hope he dont think they have got rollercoasters out back at Graceland) LMAO

For me it started with my sister dating her now husband.I was around 8 at the time and had no musical interest at all but with Richard being a huge fan he always had Elvis playing in his car and over time i started to recognize some of the songs. One Sunday we went to their house for dinner and afterwards he started playing Elvis records, again i was not really paying much attention till he put on the 68 Comeback record and that grabbed my attention,i could not understand what all the women were screaming at and the opening song Trouble made me think i wanted to hear more. After this he played From Elvis In Memphis and again the music just had me sitting there listening,i was spellbound. When it came time to leave Richard promised to tape the two LP's and a couple more to see if i liked them and that was how i got into Elvis and how my collection started.Long gone are them cassettes but everytime i play 68 Comeback or From Elvis In Memphis it holds special memories for me

This is a great thread Ju!!
For me I always was. I dont remember ever not liking Elvis. My parents are both Diehard fans to the point that when Elvis Died in 77 my mom made a trip a week or so later to Memphis and I have a pic of her praying on the steps in the cemetery before they even considered moving Elvis to Graceland as his final resting place.
This may sound lame but Elvis is like a member of the family to me. He was always there and always will be. I also was lucky to see him in concert when I was 6 yrs old. My biggest memories from the show was the ELECTRICITY from the audience when he walked on stage. I NEVER felt anything like that go through my soul with anyother performer I ever saw. And I remember him singing FairyTale. I loved that song as a little girl.

I heard the song Follow That Dream on the radio in the summer of 1962... it was the first Elvis record I bought.. I spent my teen years going to watch all those great films at the cinema and saving up to buy the soundtracks - that was all we had back then.....things happened and Elvis slipped into the background of my life...until about 6 years ago......i had no Elvis cds and got a new car with a cd player...I thought I would like an Elvis cd...and bought a compilation four cd set with 88 tracks, thinking it would be all I needed - it wasn't!!!!!! At the same time I read the Peter Guralnik books and really got to know Elvis the man, and a huge fascination was born....he reeled me right back in...I discovered the Internet sites, all the music, outtakes, remixes....books....and made so many great friends through Elvis....two trips to Memphis were the culmination of my Elvis revival......now I spend lots of time on the pc, running our own site and chatting to friends all over the world......all thanks to the gorgeous, talented, fascinating, charismatic, enigmatic Elvis Presley!

I heard Jailhouse Roack on the radio and i thought it was the most amazing sound i had ever heard,i was 11 years old and it was 1973,i then set out to listen to more Elvis. From that moment i was hooked,as the years went by i listened more and more to not only the early Elvis but also the music he was releasing at the time . I was in the kitchen at home listening to the radio when it was announced of Elvis' death,to this day when my mother recounts her memories of that day she says "It was as if you could hear Julies heart break".Thru love and tears heartbreak and happiness there has always been an Elvis song there..............................No more and no less,i fell in love at the tender age of 11 and i still just love the man.....

I've been a fan since 1956, i may have been only 4 years of age, but, i remember Heartbreak Hotel on the radio and stopped playig with my doll, it was a black pot doll dressed in a wedding dress with a veil, my mother thought i'd broken it because i dropped it to run to the radio, i still love and have the utmost respect for Elvis, i know for me it could only have been the music because i never knew what he looked like, didn't know what a hunk he was or what sexy meant, all of those are an added bonus. Bcause of Elvis i have been to Graceland many times and made lots of wonderful friends on the internet, for that i will be extremely grateful. Thank you Elvis, your the man. Kathy
